Fabric Store Visit

Nothing new made today but I did make a trip to the fabric store and got some new cheapo fabric and more zippers.  Here's a picture. Should be fun to see what I come up with!

long wallet... needs work

Remember yesterday's coin purse?  The cute one with the snap and the zipper?  Well I tried to make it longer, and while I succeeded I don't like the portions much.  See here:

10" x 4"

Maybe I'll try a bit narrower in width and a bit wider in length.

coin purse with zipper and snap

Today I decided to make a coin purse with a zipper and a snap , from "Thimble, Things I Make and Do".  It came out really cute, see for yourselves.

And of course, I had to make another one.  This one is a little wonky, but its cute nevertheless!

Perfect or going for a cup of joe!

When in doubt, make it bigger

My latest zipper purse is big!  7¼ by 8½ inches.  It has three pockets on the inside.  I did the stripes to make it a bit more interesting, and check out the nice zigzag pink stitches on stripes.

Nice stripes!

Pockets inside

Nice pink zigzag stitches

And then I thought it might be nice with a squared bottom, and I think a loop for your keys inside.  This one is 9½ inches across the top, 6¾ inches across the bottom, 5 inches high, with a width of 3 inches.  I love the green zigzag stitching and the zipper.

I enjoy that stripe very much!

the handle matches the stripe

See the squared bottom?

brown lining.... I should have used the print. see the loop for your keys?

A post especially for Susan

Ah, the madness continues

I'm happy to announce that over there to the left of the screen you can follow me by email, sign yourselves up!

I bought this blanket binding the other day.  So cute and colorful!

Of course I had to make a little change purse!

My synapses were not quite firing properly this morning, so the first one I made has the pink on the outside and the cars on the inside.

I guess not enough coffee.

Now the those two are quite small, 4 and 3/4 by 3 inches, so I sewed the binding together and lined it.  Nicer that the cars don't get cut off, and you can fit more inside, plus the stripey thing is quite nice.

I like the race car check inside.

One more wristlet for today.

Snaps!!!

I finally got the snaps and snap grommet tool. Not too bad.  The hardest part is figuring out how to set up the tool, but once you have the hang of it, it goes pretty quickly.

The wallet is very simple, just wanted to check it out.
The Front.  The snap is under the button.

See the Pockets?

All in all, I'm pleased!

In other news, I totally scored on the interfacing thing!  I bought 8 yards, so I'm set for a while, YAY!!!

Stay tuned folks!

Other pouches

Just pictures:

And now for something completely different....

More like a variation on a theme.  My project for today is a zipper pouch with a handle and outside pocket.
Front (notice the nice pink zipper!)

Back

the lining (I'm a lady, see that pinkie?)

see the outside pocket?

I wouldn't say it was hard, certainly I've made enough zipper pouches to have that part down, but the strap, that's another story.  First, I put it inside the outside pocket, that won't work! Then I took that apart and carefully resewed it inside the zipper pouch :-p.  Finally, I got it in the right place.  Geez... if I could think things through life would be easier.

Another challenge was getting my camera to focus, apparently this fabric confuses it.

In other news I have my first blooming daffodil of the year.  So lovely to know that spring is on its way.  A balmy 73 degrees out there!  Whoo hoo!

I'm mobile blogging now!

Zips, zips and more zips!

Okay, I admit it.... "Hi, my name is Carol and I'm a Zippouchaholic." I can't help it.  I really like making these things!  Here's some black ones I made a couple days ago.

Black wool with cotton bowling ball fabric for the lining.  I like the contrasting zippers.
See the loops?  I was thinking a strap.

Other pouches I've made include:

This one I made for my big sis Susan.

This one doesn't have a zipper, but its cute.

So all in all, I like this pouch thing a lot!
