Another Messenger Bag

Hurricane Sandy came through last night, I'm lucky to report we're okay.  My sister is without power, and has a tree down across the street, but all are healthy and have been accounted for.  My heart goes out to those that did not fair as well, you are in my prayers.

Since there was no going anywhere today, I spent the day creating the latest messenger bag.  I just love the fabric!  Fish! Cute cute cute!!!!  Its definitely violet/purple background, not blue I tried to doctor it up the photo to reflect this.

Again, I just love this bag, fish on a violet/purple background and chicken wire interior fabric.  The buttons are dark almost black but have iridescent purple striation.

Great bag!  $60.00, make a great gift for a outdoorsy gal!

Everyone take care as we on the east coast recover.

Its time to get working for the Holiday Season.

Recently, I just finished a new purse design (more in process) thanks to Obsessive Crafting Disorder Blog:

Cosmetic Bags in fun fabrics:

The Messenger Bag still needs some cool buttons.

And of course I'll have more Scoodies:

And this year I have a supply of potholders that would look great in Auntie's Kitchen:

And a little somthing filled with catnip for your kitties!

flowers on the fence

Remember my attempt at vertical gardening?  I think it worked out great!  So nice to look outside.

Vertical Gardening

It seems the buzz for urban gardening is all about going vertical.  It makes sense, we city dwellers dream of large plots of vegetables and beds of flowers. But reality is a postcard sized backyard.

So I've hung some planters on the fence.

I've even sewed up a little felt planter

I think I may put plastic bags with holes in the bottom in the pockets to retain more moisture.  I'm hoping it will hold up.  Time will tell.

I'll be getting plants tomorrow, and I will pot them up on Sunday afternoon.  So keep tuned for pictures!

My little postcard of a garden

I just love spring, when everything is green and full of expectations!  I just spent a little time in my garden planting coleus and marigolds for color, basil and parsley for the kitchen.  My rhubarb I planted last year is going gang busters, and I'm toying with the idea of snagging a couple stalks, its so hard to wait THREE YEARS! Its an eternity!

My tomatoes went in last weekend.  I've got 4 going.  A Brandywine, a Big Rainbow and a Black Crim I started from seed.  The Black Crim is quite small, I'm worried it may not make it.... I've also planted a Sungold Cherry tomato I got from our local Urban Farm.  I've got some chard going, and lettuce and arugula.  The arugula came back from last year, a lovely surprise!  And of course my herbies.  I've got a huge sage from last year, thyme, chives and oregano all back from last year.  And I've got the potatoes going, I'm mounding this year, I didn't last year and I didn't get many potatoes, so fingers crossed.

Oh yes!  And I've got 3 blueberry bushes, this is my 4th year, and it looks to be a great harvest.  Strawberries are starting to turn red, I've wrapped my bag of strawberries in old mosquito netting with the hope to keep those piggy squirrels from eating them all before I get to them!

I love my garden!  Peace and Joy to everyone!

Hello Again!

I've been gone for so long.  I just really didn't have a whole lot to share.  Been cooking, and working in my garden.  I'll post some pictures of my garden this early springtime this week.  So keep tuned.

I did just complete this set of potholders for a customer.

That fabric is just so pretty, so far I've made 3 sets!  I've made other potholders, but these are by far my favorites.  You probably can't tell, but I chose a lime green contrasting thread that just gives it that much more appeal.

Have a great day.
